Chad has signed two financing agreements with the AfDB and China totaling about $58.2 million.
On 20 August, Chad’s Minister of State for Finance Tahir Hamid Nguilin signed a financing agreement with the African Development Bank for about $14.2 million and two grant agreements with China totaling roughly $44 million.
The AfDB agreement provides budget and project support for the Program to Support Improvement of the Business Climate and Modernization of Administration, targeting economic governance, domestic revenue mobilization and public-administration reform.
The Chinese grants, signed with Ambassador Wang Xining, will finance development projects, with cooperation spanning infrastructure, energy, industry and telecommunications.
The Bank's priorities in Chad focus on transport infrastructure, reducing energy-sector fragility and strengthening public financial management, while its 2026 outlook flags risks from oil-price swings and climate shocks, per its country page.
The new agreements follow a roughly $127 million Afreximbank facility announced on August 10 to support trade and sectoral projects.
