KoBold Metals has begun core drilling at its South Pedicle copper exploration project in Sakania Territory, Haut-Katanga Province, near the Zambian border, marking a new stage in assessing the area’s copper potential.
The company has completed the first meter of core drilling in the South Pedicle Basin, according to MiningCongo, which reported the milestone on October 14. The campaign marks a shift from surface exploration to direct investigation of the underlying rock formations.
The results could help clarify the project’s copper potential and guide the next phase of exploration. Positive findings could also strengthen investor confidence and create new opportunities for investment in the DRC’s copper sector.
Located in southeastern DRC, South Pedicle lies near Zambia’s established Copperbelt mining region. KoBold Metals is pursuing copper exploration in the country as part of its broader efforts to identify mineral deposits.
The company has yet to disclose the campaign’s planned depth, duration or initial assay results.
