African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 concludes today, October 16, in Cape Town, bringing five days of discussions on investment, energy development and strategic partnerships across Africa to a close.
Held under the theme “Invest in African Energies: Affordable and Abundant Energy Additions,” the event brought together government officials, energy companies, investors, financiers and industry experts to discuss opportunities across the continent’s oil, gas, power and energy infrastructure sectors.
The week featured high-level discussions, investment forums, industry interviews and networking events focused on attracting capital, advancing projects and strengthening cooperation between African governments and international partners. Exploration, refining, critical minerals, infrastructure development and technology transfer were among the key topics.
AEW 2026 also provided a platform for companies and public-sector representatives to present projects, discuss investment conditions and explore partnerships aimed at expanding Africa’s energy capacity. Turning these discussions into concrete commitments and operational projects remains a key challenge for the sector.
As the event draws to a close, attention turns to implementing the initiatives discussed in Cape Town and translating investment interest into projects that can strengthen energy supply, support industrial development and create economic opportunities across the continent.
The organizers have confirmed that the next edition of African Energy Week will take place from October 11 to 15, 2027.
As an official media partner of AEW 2026, Africa Monitoring has followed the event’s key discussions and developments, with particular attention to energy investment, project financing and opportunities shaping Central Africa’s energy sector.
The conversations will continue beyond Cape Town, as governments, investors and energy companies work to turn Africa’s energy ambitions into tangible results.
