Africa’s leading energy operators will gather in Cape Town for African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 to advance investment, showcase major projects and discuss the next phase of oil and gas development across the continent.
From deepwater projects in Angola and Nigeria to liquefied natural gas (LNG) developments in Mozambique and Mauritania and Senegal, participating companies are pursuing new production opportunities and expanding existing operations.
“The companies coming to Cape Town are not talking about hypothetical opportunities – they are drilling wells, producing first oil and gas, developing LNG projects and putting billions of dollars to work across Africa. AEW is where this industry meets,” said NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber (AEC).
Global Majors Advance African Projects
TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, Chevron and bp will bring senior executives to AEW 2026 to discuss investment priorities and project development across key African markets.
TotalEnergies is advancing the $6 billion Kaminho deepwater project in Angola, expected to begin production in 2028, alongside major gas and LNG investments in Nigeria and Mozambique. ExxonMobil is pursuing the Rovuma LNG development in Mozambique, while Chevron is expanding its exploration activities following an oil discovery at the 105-4X well in Angola’s Block 0 in August 2026. bp continues to develop the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project spanning Mauritania and Senegal, which began production and LNG exports in 2025.
African Operators Push Projects Forward
The event will also feature companies driving production growth and exploration across the continent. Azule Energy is advancing its deepwater portfolio in Angola following the start-up of the Ndungu field, while Woodside Energy continues operations at Senegal’s Sangomar oil field, which began production in 2024.
Independent operators will add another dimension to discussions. Afentra is expanding its Angolan portfolio through acquisitions, redevelopment and exploration, including a recent oil discovery at Pacassa SW in Block 3/05.
By bringing together international majors, African producers and independent operators, AEW 2026 will provide a platform to connect project developers with governments, investors and service providers and advance commercial opportunities across Africa’s energy sector.
The event takes place in Cape Town, South Africa, from October 12 to 16, 2026.
